Introduction
The Paleomagnetismprovides technical support to researchers working on topics ranging from magnetostratigraphic dating of marine and terrestrial sedimentary sequences and correlation with their fossil and stratigraphic record, paleomagnetism applied to the study of tectonic processes, to environmental magnetic studies aimed to unravelling paleoenvironmental and climatic variations in the rock records.
The laboratory is equipped with Superconducting rock magnetometer 2G 755-4K (2G Enterprises), Dual speed spinner magnetometer JR-6A (AGICO), Thermal Demagnetizer TD-48SC (ASC Scientific), Alternating field Demagnetizer D-Tech 2000(ASC Scientific), Kappabridge MFK1-FA (AGICO) and Impulse Magnetizer DPM1(Beijing Eusci Technologies Ltd.). The laboratory also has a magnetic shielding room with magnetic field intensity inside the room less than 200 nT (the normal space earth magnetic field is 48484 nT). Thus, more than 99% of the earth's magnetic field are shielded.
1. Superconducting Rock magnetometer

Function: It is the most sensitive instrument for measuring remanence magnetization. It could measure paleomagnetic samples continuously and accurately.
2. Multi-Function Kappabridge

Function: It is a sensitive instrument for measuring magnetic susceptibility and anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS). The CS4 High Temperature Furnace Apparatus CS-Llow temperature device allow measurements of the temperature variation of low-field volume magnetic susceptibility of rocks in the temperature range from -192℃ to 700 ℃.
3. Dual Speed Spinner magnetometer

Function: It is the most sensitive and accurate instrument for measuring remanent magnetization based on conventional (non-superconducting) principles. There are two choices for the rotation speed: high speed for high sensitivity measurement, and low speed for the soft samples. It is especially suitable for measuring volcanic rocks with high remanent magnetization and highly consolidated sediment samples.
4.Alternating Field Demagnetizer

Function: It i is used in the thermal demagnetization experiment.It has a heating/cooling cycle and the maximum heating temperature is 700 ℃.

Function: The environmental magnetic parameters can be obtained by using the DPM1 pulse magnetizer and spinner magnetometer,such as (saturation) isothermal remanent magnetizaiton (SIRM/IRM) curves.
