August 12 to 17, the 28th Goldschmidt conference was held in Boston with more than 3000 researchers and exhibitors from 50 countries participating. As the most influential international conference on geochemistry, Goldschmidt conference is held every year and is home for top geochemists to bring their latest researches together for exchanging. This year, the School of Ocean and Earth Science and the State Key Lab of Marine Geology held a booth at this conference where director of the SKL Prof. Shouye Yang, deputy director Prof. Hao Chen, Ms. Xixi Shen and Ms. Juan Xu welcomes young talents and overseas experts to join in Tongji by introducing and explaining in details our global recruitment program and the development of ocean sciences in Tongji and in China. These works received positive feedbacks and have attracted postdocs and young scholars from world renowned institutions such as Havard, MIT, WHOI.
Aiming at building itself a global top-level discipline and a world-class marine research center and talent training base, and with the mission of answering the national call for development of marine and oil gas resources, the School has been constantly playing an active role in international and national major projects, such as the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP), the construction of National Long-term Seafloor Scientific Observation System, the South China Deep Project.
