Bases on the strong scientific research background of State Key Laboratory of Marine Geology, and supports of Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, Yangpu District Science and Technology Commission and Tongji University Science and Technology Department. The Deep Sea Exploration Hall phases I-III built in the laboratory was open to the public throughout the year, popularizing marine scientific knowledge and demonstrating new advances in deep-sea science and technology. Deepsea Exploration Pavilion is the second platform of marine public education at Tongji Univ., demonstrating the forefront of marine science and the latest marine technology, aiming on marine-science public education.
In 2016, more than 36,143 visitors from home and abroad attended the exhibition, among them, more than 200 groups visited. More than a dozen events such as popular science exhibitions were held. Taking the public holidays such as the National Science and Technology Week, Earth Day, and International Ocean Festival as an opportunity, we launched a series of popular science and cultural activities such as popular science lectures, visits and interactive activities.
